The MOBO Awards, also known as the Music of Black Origin Awards. It is a British music award show that honours achievements in “music of black origin,” such as hip hop, grime, R&B, soul, reggae, jazz, gospel, and African music. Kanya King formed the MOBO Organization, and the inaugural MOBO award was given to Baby D in the Best Dance Act category. The inaugural awards were televised live from London’s Connaught Rooms by Carlton Television. The MOBOs have shown on Channel 4, BBC Television, ITV2 and Channel 5 during the course of their 22-year history before returning to the BBC in 2020. For the first time, the ceremony was held in Glasgow in 2009. It had previously been held in London.

The event was held in Scotland for the second time in 2011. In 2015, the awards were moved to Leeds for the first time. In 2017, the show returned to Leeds, where it had previously been hosted before going on hiatus. It was announced in 2020 that it would return that year, but for the first time ever, it would be aired on YouTube
MOBO Awards Nominees
The nominees for this year’s MOBO Awards have been released, with Dave, Ghetts, Little Simz, and Arlo Parks topping the pack. The annual celebration of Black music and culture will take place at Coventry Building Society Arena on Sunday, December 5, with the event being live-streamed on YouTube and broadcast on the BBC.
In 2021, Dave is nominated for five Grammys, including Best Male Act, Album of the Year (‘We’re All Alone in This Together,’) and Best Hip Hop Act. Meanwhile, Little Simz, Arlo Parks, and Cleo Sol are all up for three awards, including Best Female Act.

MOBO Awards 2021 Date
The Music of Black Origin Awards (MOBO) will be held live at the Coventry Building Society Arena on December 5 this year. Every year, the famous event honours the UK’s thriving Black music and culture scene by recognising musicians in 18 different categories, including Grime, Gospel, Reggae, and Hip Hop. The MOBO Award Academy members create the final list of nominees, but the public chooses the winner in each category. 

The event is yet to start and the performers list is unknown till now. There will be an updated list of each and every performer after the ceremony.

Only MOBO Awards Voting Academy members are eligible to participate in the Nominations Process. The independent MOBO Awards Judging Panel then screens the results from the Voting Academy members to determine the final list of nominees. Following the announcement of the complete list of nominees at our Nominations Launch, the public can vote, and the MOBO Awards Judging Panel will reassemble to choose the eventual winners for certain MOBO Award categories.

MOBO Award winners are decided by Specialist Category Committees, which are made up of highly specialised Voting Academy Members who are passionate, and qualified in respective subjects, in order to maintain the voting process’ integrity
